Berrima is situated on the Old Hume Highway and is about 90 minutes drive from Sydney and on the way to Canberra. It is renowned as Australia’s best preserved Georgian town, and the home of Berrima Courthouse and Berrima Gaol.
If you are looking for a camping area on your way south, why not try Berrima Reserve Camping ground and also enjoy the river for swimming and kayaking. A must do in this picturesque village is to take a stroll along the Berrima River Walk and discover how the German Internees in WW1 spent their time.

On your way out of town heading south, you will find the Berrima Museum, Feast dining, the Alpaca Centre and also a terrific park for the children to enjoy, complete with castle climbing frame.

Berrima Reserve Camping Area is located adjacent to Wingecarribee River on Oxley Street, Berrima. The grounds are a five minute walk from Historic Berrima Village.

Berrima River Walk
In Berrima you can also enjoy the signed walk along the Wingecarribee river and discover what the German merchant seamen built while interned in Berrima for four years during WW1. Nineteen illustrated panels explain the story of German internees who made use of the area during World War I.
The walk is 1.8 km so allow 1 hour return.
The surface is reasonably level, slight grades. The path winds through bushland, is uneven and can be slippery in wet conditions.
